Part I
The HUB Kista
For my first project, I was tasked with designing and managing a temporary summer bar for Ericsson, working with very limited funds and resources. Utilizing materials we had in storage, I repurposed shipping containers to create functional, efficient spaces. I designed and built the bar inside an 8ft container, maximizing space for both storage and functionality while considering traffic flow and bartender efficiency based on my past experience in hospitality.
I constructed a canopy connecting two 8ft containers, one housing a small bar and the other a kitchen. The 20ft container provided storage, and I designed the layout to optimize space for operations and customer service. Additionally, I managed the setup of a grandstand, fairy lights, and a DJ booth to create a welcoming atmosphere, transforming the space into a unique event venue.
All bar and event operations were under my supervision, including staffing, logistics, and stepping in as needed to keep the kitchen running. This project exemplified my ability to creatively solve problems and manage multiple aspects of a large-scale design and event initiative.
Part II
Ericsson Innovation Center
For my second project, I led client relations for GladStad while overseeing the design and construction of Ericsson's Innovation Park. The project involved building an events restaurant/bar and multiple showrooms using 19 repurposed shipping containers. I managed all aspects of the build, including site planning, directing container placement, cutting and welding, ordering materials, and constructing large decks.
Throughout the project, I integrated user experience design principles, focusing on traffic flow, spatial ergonomics, lighting design, materiality, and visual coherence. These design elements were strategically incorporated to ensure the space was both intuitive and aesthetically engaging, solving potential user challenges before they arose.
Despite a limited budget and tools, I collaborated with a small team from late summer 2022 to mid-2023. The project required flexibility to meet Ericsson’s evolving needs, further strengthening my ability to adapt, innovate, and deliver impactful, resource-efficient solutions.
